My Crush Doesn’t Know I Like Her

I don’t even know when it started, but somewhere between our late-night jokes and random voice notes, I fell for her. The problem? She thinks I’m just playful — the unserious guy who knows how to make her laugh but can’t possibly be interested in anything deep.

Every time she talks about guys who “don’t know what they want,” I feel like she’s indirectly describing me. She doesn’t know that I pause before replying her texts because I’m trying not to sound too eager. She doesn’t know that I memorize the little things she says — like how she loves bread and tea at night or how she hates when people disappear without explanation.

Sometimes she tells me about the people who are “toasting” her, and I just smile like a supportive friend. Meanwhile my chest is paining me. She once said, “If you were serious, maybe I would have even liked you.”

That thing has been ringing in my head since that day.

I wish she knew how much I care. I wish she knew that I’m not talking to anyone else. I wish she knew she’s the first person I want to gist with every morning.

But I’m scared — scared that if I confess, I’ll lose the friendship completely.
