I Still Read Our Old Chats Every Night

It’s embarrassing, but it’s true. Every night before I sleep, I scroll through our old conversations. Not the recent ones — the old ones. The ones when we were still close, still excited to talk to each other, still sending paragraphs instead of one-word replies.

I read the jokes we made. The plans we never carried out. The compliments, the late-night confessions, the “don’t sleep yet” messages.

It’s like visiting a version of myself who was hopeful and soft, someone who believed you felt the same way.

Sometimes I laugh at how silly we were. Sometimes I cry because I miss what we used to be.

I know it’s not healthy, but those chats are the only proof that we were once something — even if it was undefined.
It reminds me that I wasn’t imagining everything.
It was real.
Maybe not forever… but real enough to leave a mark.
