I Miss Someone I Never Dated

It sounds silly when I say it out loud — how do you miss someone who was never officially yours? But I miss them. I miss the way they understood my jokes instantly, the way they made normal conversations feel meaningful.

There was chemistry. There was tension. There was everything… except timing.

We were almost something. Almost close. Almost perfect. But life got in the way. Maybe fear too.

Now we don’t talk like before. Just occasional replies, small interactions that feel like shadows of what we used to be. And somehow, that hurts more than a breakup.

Because how do you move on from someone you never had?
How do you forget a connection that was real even if the relationship never happened?

Sometimes I wonder how things would have turned out if one of us had spoken up earlier. Maybe we could’ve been something beautiful.
Or maybe it would’ve fallen apart anyway.

But I miss them. Heavily. Silently.
